INJURY IS TO THE BODY as TRAUMA IS TO THE PSYCHE 1
We have often been asked “What is it that you do exactly?!” We joke that we are the founders of the Dynamic Anatomy Detective Agency – that is to say we are body detectives. Detective work is about observation, details, noting the unusual, the minutia, thinking outside the box, weighing possibilities and probabilities, research-digging into the past/history, leaving no leaf unturned and following one’s intuition. It requires knowledge. In our case, knowledge of the human being, understanding that the whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts. It involves skill and curiosity. Thus, we have spent decades honing our skills in numerous disciplines. Our curiosity has initiated a voyage of discovery that has involved everything from the study of great osteopaths Andrew Still and William G. Sutherland, to Jon Franklin and Candice Pert, from Raymond Dart to Stanley Keleman, from Richard Feynman to David Bohm and Michael Talbot, from the physical/anatomical realm to the psyche/emotional. Our goal is to resolve the case, to relieve the pain. Permanently. That we start always with the physical (anatomy) is because the body constitutes a “record” of all that has happened during that life….a good starting point for any great mystery.
With this in mind, all our treatments begin with the body, for trauma, be it physical, emotional or psychic, may be stored only to resurface, sometimes years later, as a pain, an anxiety, a behavior or any number of problems created by the body’s method of compensation. The whole person, their history, posture, gait, culture, environment, work, family and beliefs are all important considerations in uncovering the source of pain. TraumaPractik™ is both a philosophy and a methodology, a global approach that integrates numerous modalities to resolve core issues. The Anatomy of Trauma™ workshops are intensive ‘hands on’ learning, encouraging innovation, research and a good dose of open-mindedness and inquisitiveness.
We have developed the Anatomy of Trauma™ workshops simply because our patients do not want us to retire without training others. Also, many colleagues have expressed interest in studying with us. We sincerely hope that we can insight enthusiasm, curiosity and the joy of discovering the magic of our being.
